WARMSQUEEZ / WARMSARK

Springvale Warmsqueez/Warmsark & Springvale PLATINUM^® Warmsqueez/Warmsark  are expanded polystyrene (EPS) boards for use as insulation between and under/over rafters in tiled or slated pitched roofs, in new and existing dwellings and buildings of similar occupancy.

Warmsqueez/Warmsark has been providing efficient and cost-effective solutions for insulating pitched roof constructions for decades, making substantial contributions to reducing CO₂ emissions and improved energy efficiency of buildings.

Springvale Warmsqueez is installed between the rafters and the Warmsark is installed under or over the rafters and is available in white or Platinum EPS grades and can be used in any combination to achieve the required U Values.

The products are supplied in 2 grades, EPS 70E and EPS 100E to meet a range of compressive strength requirements and have a Reaction to Fire Classification of Class E.

Providing excellent thermal insulation properties, Warmsqueez/Warmsark manufactured in a range of EPS grades and thicknesses allow a suitable range of U-values to be achieved and can be used in conjunction with other Springvale’s product range to aid compliance with Approved Document Part L of the building regulations.

U Value Examples – Pitched Roof – Double Layer

(Further examples shown in our Agrément certificate)

(1) Pitched roof construction – concrete tiles on 25 mm timber tile battens (well-ventilated) on low-resistance (LR) breather membrane; Warmsark or Platinum Warmsark insulation over rafters secured with 8 stainless steel (λ = 17 W/mK) fixings per m² with a cross-sectional area of 5 mm²; Warmsqueez or Platinum Warmsqueez insulation fitted tightly between the 47 mm by 150 mm timber rafters at 400 mm centres (11.75%; λ = 0.13 W/mK); AVCL; 15 mm plasterboard (λ= 0.25 W/mK).

(2) Pitched roof construction – concrete tiles on 25 mm timber tile battens (well-ventilated) on low-resistance (LR) breather membrane; Warmsark or Platinum Warmsark insulation over rafters secured with 8 stainless steel (λ = 17 W/mK) fixings per m² with a cross-sectional area of 5 mm²; Warmsqueez or Platinum Warmsqueez insulation fitted tightly between the 47 mm by 150 mm timber rafters at 600 mm centres (7.83%; λ = 0.13 W/mK); AVCL; 15 mm plasterboard (λ= 0.25 W/mK).

(3) Pitched roof construction – concrete tiles on 25 mm timber tile battens (well-ventilated) on sarking felt; minimum 50mm well-ventilated cavity above Warmsqueez or Platinum Warmsqueez insulation fitted tightly between the 47 mm by 150 mm timber rafters at 400 mm centres (11.75%; λ = 0.13 W/mK); Warmsark or Platinum Warmsark insulation below rafters secured with 4 stainless steel (λ = 17 W/mK) fixings per m² with a cross-sectional area of 5 mm²; AVCL; 15 mm plasterboard (λ = 0.25 W/mK).

(4) Pitched roof construction – concrete tiles on 25 mm timber tile battens (well-ventilated) on sarking felt; minimum 50mm well-ventilated cavity above Warmsqueez or Platinum Warmsqueez insulation fitted tightly between the 47 mm by 150 mm timber rafters at 600 mm centres (7.83%; λ = 0.13 W/mK); Warmsark or Platinum Warmsark insulation below rafters secured with 4 stainless steel (λ = 17 W/mK) fixings per m² with a cross-sectional area of 5 mm²; AVCL; 15 mm plasterboard (λ = 0.25 W/mK).

(5) With additional timber battens (λ = 0.13 W/mK) added beneath the 150 mm rafters to accommodate insulation thicknesses between the rafters higher than 150 mm.

(6) With additional timber battens (λ = 0.13 W/mK) added beneath the 150 mm rafters to maintain a 50mm well-ventilated cavity above the insulation.

Certification

Warmsqueez / Warmsark has been awarded BBA certificate No. 08/4529 Product Sheet 3, available to download below. The products are manufactured to the requirements of BS EN 13163, under an ISO 9001 certified quality management system, a copy of our current ISO 9001 certificate is available on our Downloads page.
